In this class, we focused on building a hip that can abduct. But abduction is made up of two parts: the femur (thigh bone) in the hip joint and rotation of the pelvis. If we want to maximally abduct our leg, then we will use both together. But if we want to have maximal control of our pelvis and hips when we walk or run or do anything lateral, then we need to be able to dissociate these two motions. So we focused on feeling the difference between pelvis rotation and femur abduction so that we can better train true femur abduction. Better functioning individual parts means better functioning when they come to work together. Plus it's great for those glute gains!
